Democracy

The Democracy Programme in Greece aims at the consolidation of a well-functioning democratic society and system of governance, in the direction of gender democracy. Starting from neighbourhoods and generally focusing on the local level with an emphasis in the Regions of Attica, Central Macedonia, Epirus and Crete, the programme seeks to empower civil society actors and public authorities in enhancing the transformative power of cities through inclusive, gender-oriented governance practices.

In Bulgaria, the Programme maintains its focus at the local level, aiming at the promotion of transparency, civic participation, inclusiveness of minorities and Roma in particular, accountability, pluralism and informed debate as key principles of an open democratic political system.
