Foreign & Security Policy

The Foreign & Security Policy Programme works on the characteristics of green foreign policy through case studying in the context of Greece and its neighbouring region. Focusing in particular on the green and gender aspects of foreign policy, including EU foreign policy, the programme aims to make these characteristics discernible to key policy makers, journalists as well as other pertinent civil society actors.

The German action plan for Climate Foreign Policy and the manifestos of Green parties

ARTICLE

The German government recently adopted an action plan for its climate foreign policy. This article presents the core characteristics of this plan. Furthermore, it compares these characteristics with the findings of a recently published study conducted by the Heinrich Böll Foundation, which attempts to determine the concept of “green foreign policy”. The conclusion is that the German plan is indeed directed towards a concrete green strategy.

First, to suggest and examine how the EU can enhance its security and its global role, without diverting its focus to the remilitarization of European politics. Green Foreign Policy Snapshots

PUBLICATION

Green foreign policy, lacking an agreed upon definition, is often misquoted and misinterpreted, narrowed down to only protecting the natural environment. In this preliminary study conducted in 2022, we attempted to see beyond scattered political opinion by analysing data. Partial or complete, a green foreign policy doctrine may be an eventuality based on these initial findings.
