Ifigenia Douvitsa is holds a PhD from the Law School of the Democritus University of Thrace. She teaches as a adjunct lecturer at the Hellenic Open University's Graduate Program on Social and Solidarity Economy. She is one of the founders of the International Journal of Cooperative Law and a member of the editorial board of this journal, a regional researcher for the Europe region of Cooperatives Europe and participates as a member - representative of Europe in the International Committee on Cooperative Law of the International Co-operative Alliance.
