A rural sociologist and political ecologist who completed his doctorate at the Centre for Agroecology, Water and Resilience at the University of Coventry. His current research interests include the role of small farms in transitioning to more sustainable food systems, alternatives to mechanised agriculture, and the role of market relations in determining farming practices.

Along with his family, he is currently in the process of establishing a small non-commercial farm in Western Turkey.
