Tasos Theofilou was born in December 1982 in Thessaloniki and lives in Kypseli, Athens. A 2007 graduate of the School of Social Theology and Christian Culture at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, he did not advance to the next academic level until 2024, when he completed his master’s degree in Creative Writing at the University of Western Macedonia.

He has worked as a flyer distributor, a video store clerk, a waiter in tavernas and cafés, a dining hall attendant at the Technological Educational Institute (TEI) of Thessaloniki, a writer, a canteen worker at Domokos Prison, a scribe at Korydallos Prison, a court reporter, a restorer of police and court reports, a factory worker in the production of promotional keychains, an editor, a publisher, an event and book‑festival organizer, and a researcher of police and judicial narratives in the interwar press.

Something that has deeply influenced him and compels him to write constantly about it is his five-year imprisonment in Greek prisons (3.5 years at Domokos Prison and 1.5 years at Korydallos Prison) on a series of serious charges brought against him in August 2012, for which he was ultimately acquitted in June 2017.
