Photo exhibition “1000 Dreams: stories from the LGBTQI+ refugee experience” – Opening
Being LGBTQ+ and displaced can represent a double stigma. This reality, often overlooked, is what the photographic exhibition we present in Thessaloniki for a third year in a row tries to explore. It is a selection of 27 portraits and stories coming from the LGBTQI+ refugee community in Europe, as part of the project ‘1000 dreams’. This project is entirely authored by people with a refugee background telling the stories of refugees across Europe. While our understanding of the refugee experience most often comes through stories told by others, often creating incomplete and biased perceptions, ‘1000 Dreams’ allows us to get to know the stories of people on the move and to learn about them, their dreams and their strengths.
On Monday 24 June 2024 at 20:00, the exhibition will be opening at the Toss Gallery, where all Congress participants are welcome for a drink.
This exhibition is a part of the Heinrich Böll Foundation’s contribution to Thessaloniki Euro Pride 2024 and will remain open until the end of the event, on 30 June 2024. Opening hours: 19:00-23:00.
