The Spectre of the People - Photo exhibition
On Saturday afternoon we visited an outstanding photography exhibition, the main one of this year's Thessaloniki Photobiennale, which is one of the most important cultural festivals of the city. In this exhibition, which the Heinrich Böll Foundation was delighted to support as its topic is very relevant to our work, 26 photographers from around the world explore the theme of populism and how image contributes to the spread of this political trend that threatens democracy. We thus had the opportunity to see very diverse but in any case very interesting and thought-provoking images. We should also note the high aesthetic level and the great variety in formats, as there were included everything from small size photographs to giant posters. During our visit to the MOMus-Thessaloniki Museum of Photography and the MOMus-Experimental Center for the Arts we had the special honour of being guided by the curator of the exhibition, the British photographer and art historian Julian Stallabrass.
