Nikos Vrantsis
Νίκος Βράντσης

Nikos Vrantsi is a PhD candidate in Social Geography at the Institute for Housing and the City at Uppsala University, where his research is focused on the political economy of housing. He studies the rearrangements of institutions, ideas, places and subject positions within the historical trajectory of the property system in Greece. His broader research work focuses on Housing Precarity, Processes of Urban Stigmatization and Radical Geography.

He has worked as a freelance journalist and researcher on the issues of housing exclusion and the de-marketization of housing and has participated in studies on affordable and socially accessible housing.

He is a member of the activist group H.A.R.T.A. for the de-marketization of housing in small municipalities in Greece and a member of the European Action Coalition for the Right to Housing and the City.

He holds a diploma from the Department of Political Science of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, specializing in Political Theory and a Master's degree from the Department of Social Sciences of Malmö University, specializing in Urban Sociology.
