Kyriaki Metaxa
Coordinator of the Ecology Programme
Κυριακή Μεταξά

Kyriaki studied Architecture and enjoyed exploring the social dimension in the projects she developed while paying attention to issues of sustainability and bioclimatic design during her undergraduate studies. She combined working as a self-employed architect and building energy auditor with delving more on Energy Systems in the multidisciplinary Masters Program offered by the International Hellenic University. In her thesis, she looked into the benefits of the collective approach with regard to the energy retrofit of working-class multi apartment buildings, built by the Workers’ Housing Organisation (OEK) in the ‘60s.

For the past 6 years, she has been working as a Program Coordinator Ecology at the office of Heinrich Böll Foundation Greece in Thessaloniki. The focus of her work revolves around environmental sustainability and just energy transition, especially energy efficiency, community energy and energy poverty.
