Mimi Hapig — Habibi.Works

Habibi.Works is an intercultural makerspace which enables refugees and locals in the village of Katsikas to make use of space, tools and materials to create or repair anything they want.

In the videos of this series, representatives from four initiatives talk about how they use open or traditional technologies to disseminate their outputs to as many people as possible, and also to meet the specific needs of their place.

This video is part of a field trip in the wider region of Ioannina, where a new ecosystem of Social Solidarity Economy is emerging that recognises that the term ‘technology’ includes not only high technology, but also traditional and open/free technology.

In turn, these notes from the field are part of our main dossier on the urban/rural divide.
