A city where history is around the corner - A snapshot of political history & street concert
In front of the monument to politician, pacifist and athlete Grigoris Lambrakis, the participants of the Congress of Young Europeans had the opportunity to attend a compact lesson in modern Greek history. Maria Kavala, an academic professor interested in imparting historical knowledge to wider audiences, on the basis of the assassination of Lambrakis in May 1963 spoke about the difficult course from the Resistance during the German Occupation to the Civil War and later to the politically turbulent 1960s with the strong peace movement, which nevertheless led Greece to a dictatorship. The presentation met with great interest from the audience, who participated actively with questions and comments. After that, a few meters away begun a short street concert by the musical band Roubayat, who made the evening soar with their dynamism, energy and beautiful repertoire!
