The European Mobility Atlas is a 2021 edited volume by the Heinrich Böll Foundation, which presents a wealth of reliable and informed data on transport and mobility in Europe. The Greek version of the Atlas, one year later, was not just a translation but also included many additional data from the domestic experience. This is the volume for Greece in English – an opportunity for a wider audience to get in touch with issues of the Greek transport reality.

The European Mobility Atlas, which joins a long chain of international publications of our Foundation, provides rich content to the debate on the transition that is taking place and must continue in the transport and transportation sector, which is a key element for the ecological transformation of the economy and society. The publication aims to contribute to efforts towards sustainable and just mobility in Europe. The Atlas covers a wide range of transport-related parameters based on evidence-based research, and highlights concrete, tangible mobility solutions from across the continent. At the same time, it sheds light on specific themes such as employment, cross-border mobility, tourism, road safety and technology, highlighting the multiple, and often invisible, importance of mobility for our daily lives.

This Greek version was realized with the collaboration of some of the most renowned institutions and academic establishments: the Renewable and Sustainable Energy Systems Laboratory (ReSEL), of the School of Chemical and Environmental Engineering - Technical University of Crete, the Transport Engineering Laboratory of the School of Civil Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the Major Development Agency Thessaloniki (MDAT S.A.), the Road Safety Institute "Panos Mylonas" and the Municipality of Trikala.
